STEAL VS. SPLURGE

Ok so I normally wouldn't do two steal vs. splurge posts so close together but I had to share this with you guys! How similar are these tops??? The SPLURGE version is from one of my favorite brands and I was shocked to find another so similar for under $50! This is such an easy look for day or night and perfect for a weekend gathering with friends. The clutch I linked is also under $50 and as you know straw bags and clutches are the hottest trend right now.

So I'm loving the earring trend right now and the best part is there are so many affordable options out there. Shopbop and Anthropologie are my favorite "go-to's" for the perfect pair right now. I bought these recently and I know I'll wear them all Spring/Summer. I LOVE these too in both colors! Paired with the perfect white dress and pretty sandals you can't go wrong. When I was searching for dresses I found this one for under $175 and had to order it. I've noticed that Anthropologie tends to sell out of small sizes pretty quickly but this one just hit the site and is fully stocked! Here is another pretty one from the same brand but the sizes are much more limited.

PS You may have noticed the shopping widget below! You can now shop my posts in this super easy way and I also have a shopping page in the works!

I love this look! As separates or worn together the pajama look is super chic for day or night. I styled silk pajama bottoms a lot this winter for clients wanting an elegant but casual evening look. We always paired it back to a light cashmere sweater. This pant from JCrew is a STEAL! I bought them before they went on sale but they're almost half the price now:) I'm going to live in them with a white T and denim jacket.

How amazing are these tops though! And they can be purchased at any price point. I love this one from ASOS. This one is a bit of a splurge but I love the idea of an optional belt. This is such a great look for a Spring day shopping in the city, meeting girlfriends for lunch, or throw on a chic pair of earrings and take it into evening with a jeweled clutch.

SPRING TREND

SHOP THE POST

accessories shoes // bag // pajamas

look one top // denim // shoes

look two top // skirt // shoes

look three dress // belt // shoes

Hey guys! are you ready for Spring yet? This post started out as a Lust List but I felt like it was too much gingham and I wanted to focus more on styling the pieces rather than just giving you my fav picks. Gingham has always been a classic and considered a little preppy, but this year it's taken on a little more edge. I couldn't fit this coat in but its so cute and a steal at under $150. This top is EVERYTHING!!! It has a lot going on but it works! Pair it back to white denim shorts or a maxi skirt and throw on a fun neutral earring.

Dresses are probably one of the easiest ways to rock this trend. I think I may have to grab this one from Solid and Striped. Its so easy to throw on over a bikini on vacation or where around town for lunch and errands. And its also under $150! Gingham doesn't have to just be blue....I love this yellow dress and this neutral one! Need help with this trend? Message me!

STEAL VS. SPLURGE

SPLURGE blouse // pants // earrings

I love a good steal! I ordered this look a couple days ago from Zara and can't wait for it to arrive. I've been in search of a good "safari" style high-wasted pant and I love the front tie. A twist on this classic which was always on the inspo boards at Ralph Lauren. And how amazing is this white blouse? Wear it back to a skirt, jeans, or tucked into your favorite shorts for a chic casual summer look. The splurge version is from one of my favorite brands. You can always count on them for the perfect white blouse (actually two or three styles) every season. I already have my eyes on these styles from pre-fall!

Ok so I've wanted these sandals FOREVER! But with an almost $700 price tag I haven't been able to pull the trigger just yet. There is no question that they are the ultimate investment shoe that I know I'll wear summer after summer with everything. And last but not least....believe it or not the "IT" summer bag this year rings in at less than $150! This style is already being featured on every fashion blog and was sold out before the sun even started shining last year so don't miss out!

Need help finding the "steal" version of a piece you're currently coveting? Reach out to THE GIRL LOOK BOOK! I love a good challenge:)

CASUAL LUNCH

SHOP THE POST

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine

Welcome to the second part of my three part series on what to wear if you want to be casual, comfortable, and still feel chic. Thank you all for your feedback on the last post! I'm so happy so many of you found it helpful and liked the outfit. Today's post also focuses on one of my favorite concepts - high/low dressing. We all need investment pieces and staples in our wardrobe, but for the everyday casual outfit, you don't want to feel like you would have a mental breakdown if a waiter spilled a side of salad dressing on you. So many of my clients have closets filled with $1,000+ blouses and dress, $30 T-shirts, and nothing in between!

Casual Lunch - So you're meeting a girlfriend for lunch at 1PM but have a list of errands to run beforehand and school pick-up right after - what do you wear? Have you ever heard of a restaurant top? Designers have coined this term to describe blouses that feature a special accent from the navel up (beading, cold shoulder, embroidery, etc.). Hence the part we can see when you're sitting at a table in a restaurant. This sweater meets all the qualifications for the perfect "day" version of a restaurant top. I love the detailing on the arm and its currently on sale for under $250! When the weather gets warmer you can easily lose the jacket and scarf and this sweater would easily stand on its own and make any outfit.

If you haven't hear of this shoe designer you're missing out! I purchased my first pair of his flats last Fall and never wanted to take them off! I love this low heeled style because it's feminine yet still comfortable enough for you to run around town in. This color is perfect for Spring and goes with just about anything!

I have this thing with jackets...its bad. But what do you do when you can buy a coat that looks like this for under $100?? This style is perfect for a mild winter day with a scarf and long into the Spring. I also love this one and this one if you're looking to refresh your outerwear next season.

CASUAL CHIC - APRES GYM

shop the post

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine

How do I go to the gym, run errands, and still look good enough to meet a girlfriend for lunch? This is one of the most common requests I get from my clients. What's the first step? Get out of your gym clothes! As tempting as it can be to wear them everyday while we run around town (especially for moms with young children) a few extra minutes and some closet preparation can go a long way. This is the first post in a three part series where I discuss casual dressing that doesn't break the bank. You can feel comfortable and look chic!

Apres Gym - This is probably one of the hardest times to motivate ourselves to "get dressed". I know the feeling. You're so proud that you even made it to the gym amidst your packed day of grocery shopping,  school pick-ups, or running back to work. I always tell my clients to start with their accessories. If you're able to splurge this is where to do it and less is definitely more. Next, invest in a chic sneaker. This trend is a gift from the fashion gods! Designer sneakers and slides have been popular for a few years now and there are so many options out there at every price point. Lastly, purchase at least 5 go-to tops and sweaters that you love. January is my favorite time to build my wardrobe because everything is ON SALE. You can purchase a $400 sweater for the same price as a Zara or ASOS one. This Vince sweater is over 60% off!

IN THE BAG

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten // eleven // twelve //  thirteen // fourteen

A perfectly organized handbag is something I've only ever dreamed of! I loved creating this post and I'm hoping that it will motivate me to re-evaluate my current state of affairs...

One thing I always travel with is a notebook. You never know when you'll need to jot something down - something for my son, a decorating tip, new blog post idea - and I prefer writing it down rather than typing it into the notes section in my phone (a black hole).

The beauty items in this post are essentials for me. This cream is a lifesaver all year round but especially in the winter. I also love this one which is all natural but in a glass bottle so I usually don't carry it in my purse. These towelettes can be found in all my handbags, diaper bag, and in our car. They cleanse naturally and smell amazing! The best after a workout or long flight.
