Christina Fluegge, interior decorator and founder of the uber popular site Greige Design, says she founded her blog as a way to communicate with other designers around the country during what she calls a period of slow down. I have to admit, I've used Christina's site for inspiration on a number of occasions, including picking out the perfect grey color for our bedroom (see photo below). Whether it's a bookcase in a library, or the gardens at Versailles, her blog is inspiring and reminds us daily of the beauties hidden all around us. Love the blog? Brought to you by the same geniuses behind The Surf Lodge, Ruschmeyer's, originally built in 1952, features 19 newly renovated cabins. Activities include ping pong, yoga, kite boarding, bicycling, swimming in a sand-filled pool, and enjoying a series of weekly musical performances on the main lawn. Also on the grounds are hammocks, picnic tables, a fire pit and a teepee! When I hear the name James Perse, the first thing that comes to mind is my favorite t-shirt. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1972, James developed an eye for high fashion and modern architecture at a young age from his Dad, founder of the LA store Maxfield. In 1991 however it was his love of sports which launched him into the industry. James felt he could never find the perfect baseball cap so he set out to design one for Maxfield. It was a huge success and in 1994 he launched his first women's line which would later evolve to include men's, children's, and baby collections. James Perse emphasizes elegance and comfort in his high fashion, low maintenance designs. It was no surprise to me when I first discovered his minimalist collection of furniture which focuses on warm west-coast indoor/outdoor living. I love the dog bed!

Charity Meets Luxury: Judith Lieber FEED 1000 Clutch

This stunning clutch made from Italian shiny linen provides 1,000 school meals for children through the UN World Food Programme's School Feeding Initiative. Although it's not an inexpensive purchase at $495, $250 from each clutch sold makes it the largest donation to date for one of FEED's products. If only every bag I bought helped benefit children in the world... Lauren Bush is a genius!

From the girlguide recipe book to yours... Zucchini Spaghetti with Creamy Lemon-chive Dressing

1 pound small zucchini, rinsed, dried, and trimmed at both ends
1 TSP fine sea salt
1/4 CUP Creamy Lemon-Chive Dressing
Fleur de sel

Using the julienne blade of a mandoline, slice zucchini into long, thin strips. Transfer zucchini to a colander set over a mixing bowl. Toss zucchini with salt. Let stand 15 minutes at room temperature.

Gently squeeze zucchini to extract excess water. Transfer to a bowl and toss with just enough dressing to evenly coat the zucchini. Season with fleur de sel and serve.

Lemon-chive Dressing:

2 TBL freshly squeezed lemon juice
Fine sea salt
1 CUP light cream
1/3 CUP freshly minced chives

In a small jar, combine lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cover and shake until salt is dissolved. Add cream andchives; shake to blend. Season with salt. Store, covered and refrigerated, up to 1 week. Shake to blend before using.

Hampton Chutney

Last week I was running errands around Soho and stumbled upon this little restaurant with a big line. From its name, Hampton Chutney, I didn't know what to expect. Inside it was packed and every table was taken. The line went fast and with a little help from a lovely cashier I decided on the #4: a dosa, filled with grilled portobello mushrooms, roasted onions, spinach, and goat cheese. If you're unfamiliar with a dosa it's a light, crispy, sour-dough crepe made from rice. All dosas are also served with your choice of one fresh chutney: mango, cilantro, pumpkin, peanut , tomato, or curry. I went for the mango. The result? Delicious! Owners Isabel and Gary MacGurn started their business selling chutney to local gourmet markets in the Hamptons in 1995. They opened their first shop in Amagansett in 1997 and won "Best Fast Food" by New York Magazine in 2001.

Girl Guide Tip: Hampton Chutney is a great place to go if you need something to go or want to eat in and have the time to wait for a table.

Vanessa Bruno

The Daughter of a Danish supermodel and the founder of French fashion house Cacharel, it's no surprise that Vanessa Bruno began her design career at age 24. This model turned designer combines all of my favorite fashion elements. Whether it's a white linen blouse with a lace inlay or a pair of butter-soft leather shorts, Vanessa Bruno is the epitome of effortless chic. I think my first Vanessa piece was a blue canvas sequined bag I bought on the Belgian coast almost 9 years ago. After years of waiting, Vanessa opened her first boutique in the US last year in West Hollywood (this location I'm sure was chosen to cater to her ever growing number of celebrity clientele).
