hat - I’ve been looking for a great hat for Fall in a brown or darker blush tone and really love this one. I also love this one but it may be too late in the season for straw. Her hats are all gorgeous. I also found this one for half the price - love the color!

decor - This wicker and wood coffee table from Amber Interiors is amazing! Love the look of it and the price. it would be perfect for a family room or casual living room styles with a tray and beautiful books. This style also comes in a cube side table size which could also be used as extra seating and stored under a console or left out.

transition - These black studded leather loafers are the perfect combination of chic and classic for Fall. Style them with skirts and denim for an edgy look that’s also comfortable.

knit - I am constantly in cardigans. Chunky knits are definitely having a moment right now but they’ve always been a staple for me and a constant throughout the year. One of my favorites from last year was just re-made by the same brand and the newer version is perfect! A purchase you will not stop wearing. Here is another beautiful version.

knot style - Love this faux leather headband for Fall! What a great go-with-everything color!

strapless - My favorite strapless bra is included in the Nordstom Anniversary sale! This is by far my favorite one, tried and true. Anytime I’ve ever tried to venture out I’ve always been disappointed.

watch - I don’t know how I’ve gone this long and not watched Yellowstone but I’m glad I have because now I have three seasons to watch. Download and sign up for Peacock (its free for the first month just don’t forget to cancel it!) from your smart TV or computer and start watching asap. It is a mix of Bonanza, Billions, and Succession and it is incredible.

carry - My favorite tote is back in limited stock! Even better is this matching pouch. It was the only thing I used while we were away on Nantucket and I loved being able to pull the pouch out and use it alone. They’re designed in Italy and handmade in Guatemala. Linking it to purchase from a small female-owned business :).

make - THIS parchment baked lemon salmon and potatoes with dill yogurt is out of this world! I used a vegan sour cream instead of yogurt and added my own fresh dill and it was terrific. I love fish year round but especially in the early Fall when you don’t feel like grilling anymore and aren’t quite ready for the heavier dishes yet.

fall - I just ordered this blanket for Fall picnics and nights at the beach. Love the brown and blush tones.

movie - Drive-in anyone? How does a socially distant movie night with friends sound? I’ve been brainstorming things we can do at home that are safe and fun with friends (and don’t require them to come inside). One Idea I had was a movie night. I found this home theatre projector and we’re going to try to project it on the side of our garage. Stay tuned!

home - Ever since I discovered my rattan beach chairs (still obsessed) I’ve been regularly checking Zara Home for new arrivals and discoveries. Love this folding chair! Perfect for extra seating inside or out. Lost power last week? Check out this uber chic portable lamp trimmed in gray leather and batter operated. Speaking of picnics….check out this cart! I could go on forever…

sneaks - My favorite summer sneakers for the boys! Made for boys, girls, and babies, these slip on sneaks are the perfect casual cool compliment to any warm weather look. Check out this pale green color on sale! Made in Spain.

road trip - If you live in the New England/New York area and are looking for a little escape I have the place for you. Last Friday I was invited to try Chef Victoria Blamey’s new menu at the Mayflower Inn and Spa in Washington, CT. Blamey is doing a Summer residency at the newly redecorated Auberge resort and everything was INCREDIBLE! I visited the Mayflower a couple of years ago for a photoshoot and while I remember it being lovely, there was nothing that really “stood out” other than the gorgeous spa. That has all changed. Celerie Kemble’s redesign is exquisite and you forget you’re not in a home. So, if you find yourself looking to get out of town for a day or two click here!

beauty - This mascara is still hands-down my favorite ever. And its CLEAN! It costs nearly double what I used to pay for my mascara but to be honest, it does double the work. My eyelashes are thicker, hydrated, and I never have a problem taking it off at night. The last two clean ones I tried left my lashes dry and falling out. Highly recommend!

tote - Designed in Italy and handmade in Guatamala, this 100% plastic bag is the perfect compliment to your Summer style. It’s neutral, washable, and perfect for on and off the beach. This powder color will take you straight into Fall!

make - My favorite summer dinner: a light fish, Bibb lettuce salad or micro greens, and a rice prepared like this one. I tried it a few nights ago and it was delicious! You can easily replace or remove any other nuts if you need to!

outdoor bar - I recently shared an outdoor bar that I picked up from Home Goods. I was going to use it as a planter for my little herb garden I started but after seeing this one from Serena & Lily, I may have to re think that!

linen pant - I’ve been on the hunt for an easy breezy linen pant to wear on and off the beach over a bathing suit etc. I love this pair! The flax color is great with a white stipe and they also come in all white. 50% off right now with code GREAT making them under $50!

make - I love a good Summer pasta and this one is perfect. It’s light and fresh and easy to whip up on a hot day. Gluten and dairy free? Swap out the pasta and use a vegan ricotta. We’ve been eating a ton of basil in our house so I used mint instead!

nook - I’m decorating a little nook in the boy’s bedroom that I’m so excited to start sharing. They’re going to be in the same room in a matter of months and I want to make this little reading corner special. I’m using this animal wallpaper (it has taken me a LONG time to find one that we all like) and I’ll be doing a simple Belgian linen on their window seat. I’m hoping to order this rattan sconce when it comes back in stock in September! Also how adorable are these bamboo and rope chairs from the same brand? 20% off right now with code BLOOMING.

sunnies - Loving this blush/tan color for sunglasses lately. This splurge pair is the perfect khaki shade!

watch - At this point you probably already know that the award-winning musical Hamilton is available to watch at home via Disney’s streaming service. We watched it last Friday and ever since I’ve been on the hunt for more films and shows from that time period. If you haven’t watched John Adams yet its great. Its an HBO mini series but available if you have Amazon Prime. The acting is great and very interesting to watch post Hamilton. Click here for the trailer.

listen - I’ve always loved the goop podcast. Its easy to listen too and they have great guests. I was happy to see that they had created a page for anti-racism education and there you will find 7 episodes to listen to. There are also two great listens on Environmental Racism. I listened to Stepping Out of Privilege with Layla Saad back in March but just listened again for a second time. I’m working my way through all of them and you should too! “We need people who are willing to turn within and see: How am I part of the problem?” Saad says.

feet - Last month I was in my dermatologist’s office for my annual skin check. Sitting there in the chair waiting I looked down at my feet - 3 months in quarantine and they weren’t looking so hot. I had been doing a lot of walking outside without shoes and my heels were dry and cracked. It didn't take long for Dr. Dolder to notice (cringe) and say, “I have a cream for that!”. I went home and immediately ordered it from Amazon. The cream is from Germany and it is awesome. I keep it on my bedside table and use it every night. After only three days my feet were so soft and my heels were smooth. Highly recommend!

make - Its finally peach season! This is one of my favorite savory/sweet peach recipes. If you love them on the grill you’ll love them in a cast iron. Click here to try rosemary peach chicken in a white wine pan sauce. PS the mozzarella gets added at the end so you can easily made this dairy free!

I am SO excited to share that I’ve become a Jenni Kayne Ambassador! This means I’ll be sharing one to two of my favorite pieces each month with you AND you can use my discount code ArtemisT20 for 20% off every time you order! Everything Jenni Kayne designs is timelessly classic and effortlessly chic. The quality is incredible and I love knowing that I’m investing in pieces I’ll have for a long time like these mules. I also love this simple style that comes in three colors.

Did you know Jenni Kayne also has a collection for Home? This is one of my favorite coffee table books of all time! It makes the best housewarming gift. I also love this basketweave throw. We’ve had it on our bed but I just moved it to a basket downstairs for the boys to use (pictured above!).

Juneteenth - June 19th may be over but the work we need to do to make it a Federal holiday is not. This website was created specifically to educate people on what Juneteenth means and how to spread the word about its importance in your local community.

watch -There are shows that I put on in the background while working at night and then there are shows that I shut my computer for. Still on the fence about The Order on Netflix but I will say it was tough not to watch (and binge). I love starting a show that has two seasons. Less waiting time! Click here to watch the trailer. I would describe it as Twilight meets Dawson’s Creek.

spray - This is the natural spray I use on our family to combat ticks. We also have our lawn sprayed with a natural oil once a month but the best prevention is still a bath or shower every night along with a tick check!

shop - I recently discovered Trouva, a website that shares 100s of small and independent boutiques across the UK and Europe. I was looking for stockists for a new to me brand called Studio Noos and found their “Teddy Mom Bag” at a boutique in London. Immediately went down a rabbit hole! How lovely is this framed poster for a children’s room?

dress - I wore this dress to the beach the other night and it is perfect! It’s under $100 and selling out quickly so be sure to check it out fast! It runs big (I’m wearing a size 2) and is a lovely light material for summer. The white one is lined!

Here a few new-to-me accounts that I followed because I was inspired by their fashion and loved their style:

babba - Babba C Rivera

aurorajames - Aurora James

jewelry - I LOVE this New York based jewelry company, Oma The Label. They are nearly sold out after their launch yesterday and after one look at the collection, you can see why! These simple gold hoops are PERFECT for everyday wear. I also have had my eye on this “mama” necklace from BYCHARI.

linens - I was so happy to discover this amazing linen brand based in Westchester, NY (a few towns over from where I grew up!). Linoto is a small business and offers customers an incredible assortment from bedding to towels to smaller gifts. I ordered two sets of these linen coasters.

listen - This goop podcast on investigating instead of reacting. “Investigating what’s underneath the rage can help us then articulate—more clearly—our values,” says Rhonda V. Magee, professor of law at the University of San Francisco and author of The Inner Work of Racial Justice

design - If you’re a neutral/minimalist lover like I am you’ll love following designer Kelly-Ann Baptiste from Pure Collected Living. Follow along here. I love this recent post of hers - I’ve been wanting to cut branches for a large vase in our dining room and she just inspired me!

shave - in an effort to be more sustainable, I have been investing in products that last longer or products that offer refills with biodegradable or compostable components. This week I learned about the Oui the People razor - it is an award-winning, made for sensitive skin, AND lasts (a long time). Purchase the razor now and order refills later. No throwing out a plastic one every couple of months.

Harper’s Bazaar - Everyone Is Home Right Now, But Who’s Doing All the “Home” Work? I love this recommendation, “If your partner is taking on a task, don't offer to help or make a list. Instead, each person should own their task from start to finish. If you are making dinner, pick the menu, cook it, and get it to the table. If you’re both working from home, consider two-to-four hour shifts of “watching” the kids (i.e.,brainstorming constructive activities, getting materials ready, and carrying out the plan).”

Vogue - Adult acne anyone? If you’ve been breaking out during quarantine, you’re not alone. This week my skin launched a full force attack on me and I started to panic. This article explains why. “Falling off your routine is one big reason why so many people are breaking out right now,” Schaffran elaborates. “But stress is the biggest one”, says dermatologist Robin Schaffran, M.D.

Forbes - New Data Show Air Pollution Drop Around 50 Percent In Some Cities During Coronavirus Lockdown. According to scientists from the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, Paris has seen nitrogen dioxide drop by 54 percent, while Madrid, Milan and Rome saw a drop of nearly 50%. So what does this mean for our cities once the lockdown is lifted? Will we work to keep these numbers down?

small businesses I love

w h a t

design - The indoor/outdoor rug in our kitchen. We’ve had this rug for a couple of years now and it still looks like new. The label recommends that you hose it down to clean but I wash it in our machine every two weeks (no dryer) and haven’t had any issues. Another most asked about rug in our house? The one in our living room! I can’t recommend it enough. It is extremely soft and because it’s a wool/sisal mix you can also easily remove stains. Our color is the “light grey”. I originally found it on Amazon three years ago when we first moved in! I can’t believe its been so long.

make - If you can get your hands on a whole chicken, this recipe is incredible. I added potatoes and used half of the butter and it was so delicious!

listen - “How to Manage Money through a Crisis” in a special goop podcast with Ellevest founder and Wall Street powerhouse, Sallie Krawcheck. Some of my biggest takeaways from Sallie: It’s not about timing the market it’s about time in the market. Your financial situation needs to be secure but if you can take a long term perspective, now is the time to invest. Women tend to be better investors because we take the long game and don’t look as much.

art - Just before the holidays I walked into a small home boutique in Soho, NY and fell in love. Everything perfectly curated and beautiful, it was like I had dreamed it up. Then I saw they had Maman Freres loose leaf tea and I knew I had found my place. French is another example of a small business being hit hard by the pandemic. Their original store is in Calabasas, CA and the NY location was only 6 months old before shutting down. The framed Antoinette Poisson print pictured above was purchased at French. Every day I pass it and still love it as much as the moment I saw it (sounds so romantic, right? HAHA). Click here to send French a note about purchasing one:)

notebook - WFH style. I don’t have an office or even a desk at home so most of my work is done from our dining room table. After months of searching I finally found a notebook and calendar that fits my workflow and style! Love everything from Appointed. They just launched the “district notepad” that directly helps local DC families.

Architectural Digest - I love every inch of Dakota' Johnson’s home. It may sound surprising if you’ve followed me for a while (don’t worry, light and bright neutrals are still my favorite) but this midcentury-modern home exudes warmth with its dark walls and woods. The color palette brings the outdoors in and I’m a sucker for cane and rattan.

Vogue - Parenting in Quarantine: We Are All Going Crazy. Whether you have children or not, this is an interesting read. There is no “easiest” position to be in these days. Whether you’re solo, moved back in with your parents, have four children, or are elderly with little help, they’re all tough. As hard as it is I consider myself lucky to have my family with me. When times get tough I try to hold on to that feeling.

Harper’s Bazaar - The Best Summer Movies of 2020 (and Their Changing Release Dates). The pandemic is rocking summer’s blockbuster slate. Here, the biggest films—and their shifting premiere dates—to keep on your radar.I loved A Quiet Place. If you haven’t seen it already watch it tonight! Looking forward to II in September!

This week’s most worn pieces…

w h a t

drink - Lemon water! I recently found myself with a huge bag of lemons that were starting to go bad. I juiced them all and have been using it for cooking but also enjoying a glass of lemon water in the morning. Here are some of the claimed benefits of lemon water: promotes hydration, source of vitamin C, improves your skin quality, aids digestion, freshens breath, and helps prevent kidney stones.

listen - In case you missed it…I shared a new Spotify playlist last week! The Music Guide v. 3 is out! I can’t live without music and listening to my playlists has kept me sane these last four weeks. I love that so many of you feel the same way about music - can’t wait to hear what you think about this one!

do - My feelings about cooking right now are the same for exercising. It is really easy to open up social media and feel like you need to learn how to bake a soufflé while doing 25 burpees and drinking a freshly made green juice. It just isn’t realistic! For the first two weeks that we were home I felt so uninspired. Everyone was Tik Tok-ing and doing work-out videos and I didn’t know where to start - it all felt so overwhelming. Now, almost a month later, I’m finally starting to feel more settled in my new routine. When I see things I’m interested in like a recipe or activity for the boys, I screenshot or bookmark it and make it when I feel like it. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I will probably be here for at least another month which means lots of time to try and do new things, but at my own pace!

make - NOW that I gave you all my disclaimer…here are some recipes I’ve made or saved that you might want to try! This vegan matcha banana bread from one of my favorite chefs, Chloe Coscarelli (she had me at matcha). THIS chicken soup recipe from Athena Calderone was so delicious. It took a while to make but we had enough leftovers for another meal so totally worth it!

watch - I started the newest (and last) season of Homeland on Friday night and it is SO good. I’m trying really hard not to binge watch it! I had totally forgot where the show left off and wasn’t going to watch it until the preview sucked me back in. If you don’t have showtime but you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can start a 30-day trial for free (just don’t blame me if you forget to cancel it)!

cleanse - This clean and natural face peel smells AMAZING and is even more effective. I use it every two weeks (at night) and I always wake up feeling like I’ve just had a facial. If you’re not familiar with Tammy Fender her products are holistic, plant-derived, and most importantly effective!

Harper’s Bazaar - Yes, We Will Travel Again—Here’s How and When to Plan Your Next Trip. From the founder of Black Tomato, a luxury travel planning website.

Vanity Fair - The Book of Reese. How Reese Witherspoon Turned Her Literary Obsession Into an Empire.

National Geographic - How centuries of pandemics have shaped the British monarchy Prince Charles' positive coronavirus diagnosis joins a long list of deadly diseases to afflict the royals, including the plague, smallpox, and the flu.

Men’s Health - Brad Paisley and his wife just opened up a grocery store in Nashville and everything is free.

The New Yorker - An eerie look at tomorrow’s cover story. It is crazy to imagine Grand Central empty.

w o r e

house dresses - It’s just as easy to throw one of these over your head than it is to pull up a pair of leggings (if not easier) and you may feel better too!

w h a t

watch - I’ve been loving Stranger and Ozark (both on Netflix). If you haven’t watched Ozark yet, welcome to three seasons of seriously binge-worthy TV. Sorry for all those addicted to Tiger King. I watched three episodes and had to stop. I can see how it can be addicting I guess…but its more like passing a wreck and not being able to look away.

make - Sick of sandwiches? I had to stop eating smoked salmon…it was becoming and addiction! Last weekend I made a rice bowl and it was delicious. Bowls are an easy way to create a healthy and satisfying meal using what you have in your pantry and freezer. Don’t skip the most important part - the dressing. I made this lemon tahini dressing yesterday and poured it over quinoa, kale, and avocado, and it was delicious!

give back - Fashion is powerful and it has been so inspiring to see so many brands stepping up and giving back. There are so many way you can help: donating supplies, making, masks, supporting small businesses, etc. Each week I will be featuring a different brand donating proceeds from their sales to charity - this week it’s the Texas-based small business, Christy Lynn. I first discovered Christy Lynn at a trunk show in Greenwich, CT last Spring and immediately fell in love with her feminine lines and neutral aesthetic. Love this lace blouse from her original collection, and this shirtdress.

outdoor entertaining - I bought this table from Terrain during a floor sample sale. They called me when I was on the way to the hospital in labor with Harrison! I can’t believe that was almost three years ago and we still don’t have dining chairs!

Vogue - Heard of The Social Distance Project? What was just meant to be a note to a few couples suffering while distanvcing went viral and has already raised over $6,000 for charity. Click here to make a donation of $1 (or more) and access quarantine drama and breakup stories…It may actually make you feel better! The lime story had me LOLing.

goop - Get a 5-pack of goop’s goop glow for free with ANY purchase using code GLOW. I love this because its rich in Vitamin C, E, and CoQ10.

Harper’s Bazaar - You’ll be able to stream a bunch of new movies early thanks to social distancing. I’m personally excited for ‘The Hunt’.

The New York Times - Easy recipes to cook while you’re self-quarantined. What I’ve been struggling the most with is lunch for myself. The boys are easy because they eat sandwiches, cheese, yogurts, etc. I don’t eat most dairy or gluten so that makes it really tough and I’m realizing that making an interesting salad every day isn’t as easy as I thought! So until further notice I’ll be living off of smoked salmon and last night’s re-heated leftovers!

small businesses to support this week:

Leallo

This brand is female founded and based in Long Island, NY. I first discovered the brand while strolling through Sag Harbor two years ago. The minute you feel a Leallo piece you instantly fall in love with the fabric. I have this lightening bolt set in gray and it is so cozy. I also love this style in a light off-white color with stars. They’re offering 25% off with code leallolove :)

Strange Bird

I started using Strange Bird about a month ago. I use the serum and moisturizer almost every morning and night and the cleanser only in the evenings. I can tell you from experience that not all natural skincare is created equally! These products smell amazing and they actually work! My skin has been smooth and glowing. Twice a week I use the cleaner as a mask and it has been great for reducing my pores and managing breakouts. Highly recommend Strange Bird! PS it is also female founded and local to CT :) Use code Artemis15 for 15% off!

W H A T

spread love - I’ve been so impressed with the way so many brands are stepping up and helping out during this crisis. My friends at Coco & Lala Watch Hill have created these awesome t-shirts (and hoodies) in an effort to spread the message #washhands4grands and also giving back to our community by donating a portion of proceeds to No Kid Hungry.

chain link necklace - I’ve been getting so many questions about my gold chain link necklace. Here is a link to the exact one I have. Monarch Market is an incredible female-founded and local (to CT) small business. If you love this look but are looking for an under 100 version, here is an almost identical one for under $50.

bake this - Have a few older bananas laying around? These days I’ve been working hard to make sure that all of our food gets used especially the fresh produce. We’ve been limiting our grocery runs to once a week so every little bit counts! I love banana bread because its a great alternative to cereal in the morning and it makes things a little more exciting at the beginning of the day!

plant this - Fresh herbs are the new commodity (insert laughing face). No but really! With everyone limiting their trips to the grocery store, buying a bunch of parsley or basil that will wilt overnight just doesn’t seem practical anymore. I just ordered this 9-herb window garden to rescue all of my future quarantine recipes :) I was also thinking it would be a fun project to do with the boys but now selfishly I may do it solo in an effort to prevent cabin fever next week. PS its’s organic!

Vogue - Feels Like a Steal: The Only Pan I’m Using to Cook at Home This Year. From one of the editors at Vogue. At first glance the price seems a little high but no, this pan does EVERYTHING! We have a small kitchen and not a ton of storage space so I’m seriously considering this.

Everything I’m wearing at home this week

exercise - One of the best ways to ward off anxiety and cope with stress is exercise. With gyms closing across the US people are turning to other outlets to get their sweat on. We don’t have a peloton at home and I’m not a big runner so I’m planning on trying a different route. Click here to check out my amazing trainer’s private Facebook group he created for online classes. When you sign up, you will be able to join as many sessions as you want in the next week. All sessions will be available to watch later and you’ll have access to them for a full month! Yay Countdown Fitness for putting this together!

bodysuit - I haven’t worn a bodysuit since jazz class in the second grade! Leave it to Everlane to create the perfect one (and make it $35). I went all in and got the thong version and it is so comfortable. I love how soft it is and it looks great paired with high-waisted denim. They also make it in black which would look great with a black skinny jean and oversized cardigan!

make - Half-Baked harvest is just the best. I share her recipes all the time in The Sunday Section because they’re so good and easy to make. Not easy because they’re uncomplicated or lacking flavor, but easy because of the way she breaks them down for you. Many of them are accompanied by youtube videos like this one. Takeout peanut noodles are my favorite and I will absolutely be trying these out this week.

serum - Vitamin-C but for your face! I’ve been hearing about how wonderful Drunk Elephant’s skincare is for the longest time and finally decided to try one of their products. I purchased this serum from Sephora last week and so far I’ve been loving it. Seven days later my skin does feel brighter and tighter. I also like the fact that they suggest refrigeration for increased potency. Highly recommend!

Closet Refresh

Since most of us will be spending the next couple of weeks at home, I wanted to share some of my tips for cleaing out your closet for Spring! It is the perfect activity to do when you have some extra time indoors and the end result is very rewarding.

step 1: Begin by removing items in sections. For example, start with all of your sweaters. Pull them off the shelves and onto a bed or the floor. Clean the shelves with a cleaning spray like this one. This will help prevent moths. Go through each sweater one by one to determine if it needs to be laundered again before being stored. Do not store anything with a stain or strong odor (from perfume or food etc.). Also check to make sure none of your sweaters have started to pill. If they have, clean them up with an electric shaver like this one.

step 2: Once you’ve checked your closet and cleaned it, go through your winter items and decide if there is anything you would like to sell or donate (you can also begin doing this during step 1). One rule of thumb, if you haven’t worn it for the season do not save it. Unless it holds sentimental value, the chances you end up wearing it next Fall are very small. I use Poshmark, The Real Real, and Fashionphile to sell items for myself and my clients. You can refer to this post for when to use each one. After I post my items I store them in a bin so they’re easy to grab once sold.

step 3: Place your Spring/Summer clothing into your closet…YAY! I love these hangers. I actually purchased mine from Home Goods when we first moved in but these are the most similar to the ones I have. This is also a good time to assess, “Am I going to wear this?”. Try things on and edit! If your favorite jeans that didn’t fit you last summer still don’t fit, bye bye!

step 4: Prevention. There is nothing more frustrating than investing in a beautiful garment and finding it has been eaten by a moth. I use these lavender sachets in our closets and they seem to work well. the most important thing though is not putting worn clothing back into your closet. Moths love strong scents from perfume and of course food!

Happy cleaning!

Vanity Fair - Kate Middleton shows just how sustainable her wardrobe can get. I love that women like Kate send the message that fashion doesn’t have to cost a fortune and it doesn’t have to be one and done either.

The New York Times - Women’s unpaid labor is worth $10,900,000,000,000. If American women earned minimum wage for the unpaid work they do around the house and caring for relatives, they would have made $1.5 trillion last year! WHAT? Why don’t we place more value on unpaid care work? The world couldn’t function with out it.

Vogue - What you should know about International Women’s Day. I learned so much from this article like that there are specific themes for every year. This year’s theme is #eachforequal

Net-A-Porter - Kerry Washington on politics, protecting women’s voices, and her new series, Little Fires Everywhere.

Birkenstocks and Birkenstock-esque sandals have made a huge comeback over the last few years especially last summer and it looks like this one will be no different. Brands like Isabel Marant are designing their versions with some serious price tags. I was recently shopping Walmart for an upcoming partnership and was so excited to find these! Sharing some How to Style Inso below plus two under $40 styles that get you the look for less.

listen - Last night I was introduced to a new to me band, Mt. Joy. They are SO good. I’ve had this song, Jenny Jenkins on repeat all day! Look out for another Spotify playlist coming out at the end of this month. Here you can find Volumes one and two.

stock up - Coronavirus news is EVERYWHERE. Last week I decided that I didn’t want The Sunday Section to become a string of articles related to covid-19 and instead I want it to feel like a mini vacation from that news. When it comes to the virus my only real concern right now is what to do if our family needed to stay home for two weeks. Last week I started to get extras….rice, beans, granola. All the tings that we eat already (there will be no spam in tis house!). Here is a helpful article from Bon Appétite on how to prepare if you’re stuck at home for two weeks. Very happy to see Nutella on that list as I just bought a jumbo value pack from Costco!

reset - I’m not a big detoxes, dieter, or cleanser. I prefer smaller changes or shifts that I can turn into habits. However, I do like the idea of a 3-day reset like this one. Its broken down easily into categories and the pictures really help (it sounds so obvious but they really do!). What I’ve found helps with a short-term plan like this one is they allow me to practice resipes I may want to continue and its also short enough for me to finish what I started. A win, win!

coffee table book - I’m pretty sure this is my favorite coffee table book…ever. I love every photograph in this beauty. Athena Calderone’s style is inspiring, calming, and gorgeous, and I want to live in these pages.

It can be hard when you feel like you need a refresh in your life but because of scheduling, work, school, or financial reasons you just can’t get away. I’m not promising that this will replace the feeling of a beach vacation BUT it can help! Refreshing an area in your home can be done for under $100 and is a nice mood lifter. Here are some budget-friendly and neutral options i’m loving right now. Don’t forget to add an easy to care for plant like a fern!

the guardian - Greta Thunberg’s mom on what it was like to watch her daughter withering away in silence before coming one of the biggest (and youngest) climate activists the world has ever seen. When I think of climate change, I see Greta’s face. Her voice, and her work so far, have been powerful for all generations but especially for mine and the ones before me. We can no longer stand by while our planet suffers beyond repair.

the everygirl - Ten grocery store hacks I use every week. OK, 8, 9, and 10 are some of mine too! I especially love the one about buying something you’ve never tried cooking with before. I wouldn’t go in blind on this one though. Instead, first find a new recipe you want to try with some different ingredients. You don’t need any unopened bottles of ____ sitting in your pantry for the next two years!

Johns Hopkins - A live map tracking cases of the coronavirus. I mentioned this on Instagram yesterday and want to say it here too. I don’t want to be an alarmist but I also want to address this virus and not ignore it. We’re all seeing so much information about it on a daily basis and I think it’s good to have access to sites like this one to be able to check-in on what’s happening.

Vogue - Major inspo at this stunning Newport mansion wedding. Last summer we visited Rosecliff Mansion with the Tyler Boe team and I was in awe (click here for a pic I snapped in the ballroom). American elegance at its finest.

The Zoe Report - Amazon reviewers call these 42 fashion pieces their favorites in their wardrobe. I never bought into super trends like the Amazon jacket or dress but I have purchased one thing on this list! This bra.

Ever since I committed to wearing more sustainable fashion this year I keep coming back to everlane. The brand is committed to sustainability and transparency AND they offer classic yet on-trend styles that are affordable. I’m a big fan.

drink this - Soup! I was never a big fan of soup until recently. I’m not sure what happened but not I really enjoy making it, and eating eat. I like Half Baked Harvest’s soup recipes because most of them are really hearty and feel like a full meal. Here is a great one from last March for Persian lamb and chickpea stew with rice. Also this 30-minute miso ramen looks delicious!

wear - I can’t remember if I mentioned these leggings already so at the risk of sounding redundant, here they are. INCREDIBLE. Full disclosure: I almost never wore leggings before I recently received these. I blame the eight years I spent in Catholic school when I was a teenager. After wearing them every.single.day. I basically wanted to burn every pair come graduation day. Now, 15 years later I’m ready to introduce them into my wardrobe again. But only THIS pair:)

beauty - Town & Country just announced their 2020 luxury beauty awards which includes over 30 beauty products from serums to hair dryers. Are any of your products on this list? I was surprised to not see more natural and organic companies featured. Maybe they should do a separate round-up for those? One product I’ve been wanting to try is this concentrated brightening essence. I love Tata Harper and when I’ve always found her line to be effective (and it smells amazing!).

mascara - I’ve tried four natural mascara’s in the last two months and kept striking out. Some were drying, some were clumpy, and most of them just didn’t look good. Last weekend I was meeting my best friend in NYC and realized I had forgotten to put on mascara. I called her and asked her if she could pick some up for me while I drove in. When I arrived at lunch she surprised me with this one. She told me it was the best one she’s ever used, and she was right. It’s a far cry from CVS for $15.99 but using a natural one is important to me and it works, well. Clean, non-toxic, hydrating, and dark sexy lashes, you’re welcome!

watch - Very Ralph. I finally watched the HBO documentary made about Ralph Lauren. Everyone kept telling me to watch it but I kept putting it off. There is a little part of me that will always be sad that my time there is over. I loved working for Ralph Lauren so much. I guess you can say I really drank the kool aid and watching it brought back so many memories. Ralph’s story was such an inspiration to me. It all started with a tie, but even before that it started with a boy and his dreams. For Ralph Lauren, fashion wasn’t just about designing a collection, it was about telling a story, and he wanted to help people live their best lives through his clothing.

Last week on Instagram I styled three budget friendly pieces for Spring from H&M. The response to the try-on was incredible! Sharing those pieces here and a few others I have my eye on:

make - 49 mushroom recipes so good, they're magic. I LOVE maitake mushrooms. They’re so earthy and delicious and surprisingly satisfying. I’ll definitely be trying this recipe next week! Also, this recipe for mushrooms with polenta and thyme looks amazing! Love it when the list of ingredients is short! OK and last but not least (not mushrooms) I just had to include this earl grey yogurt cake! I’m going to try it and sub dairy-free yogurt!

cover - In case you missed it, I shared on Instagram stories my absolute favorite slips/undergarmets for any and ever occasion. Because I’m a huge fan of the white dress I reach for mine multiple times a week especially in the summer. Click here: classic slip, strapless slip, long john romper.

breathe - If you haven’t watched the goop Netflix series yet, watch it tonight! Skip right to my favorite episode featuring half naked Dutchman Wim Hof aka “ice man”. His breathing technique has been proven to lower a body’s alkalinity thus making it less susceptible to things like cold exposure and even disease. It was incredible to watch the goop team plunge into icy water after a short training with Hof. This article outlines what it is and how you do it.

style - Last week I posted a tour of our living room and dining room on THE GIRL LOOK BOOK and on IGTV. One of my favorite pieces from the reveal is this marble link. It really works in any space and as far as “objects” go, it feels special, almost like a piece of art. In a small space you have to be so careful to not over accessorize….the word tchotchkes comes to mind! You can still use code TGG25 on Bloomist for $25 off $100 until the end of the month.

farm to table - But better. If only we could all eat like this, all the time. Small batch jasmine rice from a family farm in the Mississippi Delta, fresh pasture-raised eggs from a family owned farm in upstate NY - I’m not exaggerating when I say the tastes of some of Mike’s Organic products are some of the best I’ve ever had. I’m not sure who said it first but I’ve heard the phrase, “we vote every time we buy something at the grocery store”. This year I want to vote for more small farmers and buy local whenever I can.

sneakers - The new Everlane sneaker is worth the hype. It’s $98, made of recycled materials, and extremely comfortable. Best part? The colors! This off white fulfills all of my monochromatic neutral dreams:)

We love The Berkshires but I’ve been interested in trying something new. When I was younger my parents took as to a camping lodge up in the catskills and our family got lost on a hike! Huffington Post - The Myth of Sustainable Fashion. A very interesting read as I continue to learn about sustainability in the fashion world. It seems many brands are forgetting a very big part of creating a more sustainable world - buying less. “In H&M’s case, having some ‘sustainable’ materials in the mix makes little difference when in 2018 they overproduced $4.3 billion worth of goods”, the article goes on to say.

The New York Times - How not to get sick while traveling. Is it on your mind because its definitely on mine. I had planned to visit my best friend in Nashville for Winter break with Luke and Harrison but have decided to cancel. I may end up going by myself but I don’t want to take any unnecessary risks with the boys while there are still so many unknowns. This article had me googling “N95 respirator masks”. There is new information about the Coronavirus every day - my feeling is to read, stay informed, be prepared, and try not to overreact.

Bon Appétit - Don’t bake another thing before you read this. 10 non-negotiables just released by Better Baking. From parchment paper to the proper way to measure flour, make sure you give these a careful look. My biggest problem with baking is measure TBH AND the fact that I never have the size pan the recipe calls for so I always end up winging it. I’m better with a dash of this and a splash of that:)

Vanity Fair - Mike Bloomberg wants to build an influencer army. If you have between 1,000-100,000 followers on Instagram or Twitter you could get paid by his campaign for posting.

I’ve always been very interested in the relationship between what we eat and how we feel. I myself have had huge success with transforming my diet in the name of health. you can read about my stomach issues in this post. According to Harvard physician William Li, mangos are the golden food, dark chocolate mobilizes stem cells, and your daily cup of Joe can delay aging.

Our favorite is the skillet baked eggs and here is an oldie but goodie from Half Baked Harvest, One Skillet Goat Cheese Stuffed Chicken and Orzo. It is SO easy to make and a crowd pleaser! This is my favorite cast iron skillet.
